BOF MTE Overtime is a text-message notification service that alerts shop employees when overtime work is available, in the order set by the shop's overtime equalization agreement. This page describes the service, how we collect consent, and our privacy and terms policies.
BOF MTE Overtime sends text messages to employees of Cliffs BOF Electrical Maintenance who are eligible for overtime call-out under the shop's labor agreement. Messages are operational, not promotional — they tell an employee an overtime slot is open, give them a window to respond, and follow up if needed.
Current hourly employees of Cliffs BOF Electrical Maintenance who are part of the overtime call-out roster and have verbally consented to receive texts at the phone number on file.
Overtime offer notices, response-window reminders, and shift confirmation texts. No marketing, no third-party offers, no unrelated content.
Frequency varies with overtime demand — anywhere from a few messages a month to several in a single week during high-overtime periods.
Standard message and data rates from the employee's mobile carrier may apply.
Consent to receive overtime call-out texts is collected verbally, in person, by a supervisor or crew leader at the time an employee is added to the overtime roster. The script below is read to the employee word-for-word.
"As part of our overtime call-out process, we'll text you when overtime shifts are available, and we'll send a follow-up reminder if you haven't responded. The number of messages varies with how much overtime is offered — it could be a few a month or several in one week. Message and data rates may apply depending on your phone plan. You can stop receiving these texts at any time by replying STOP to any message, or by letting me know directly. Do you consent to receive overtime call-out text messages at this phone number?"
The employee responds verbally ("yes" / "I consent"). Only after an affirmative response is the employee's number added to the system.
The supervisor enters the employee's name, phone number, and the date consent was given into the BOF MTE Overtime system.
The system logs which supervisor or crew leader collected the consent, alongside the timestamp, as the record of that conversation.
Consent records are retained until the employee retires from Cliffs BOF Electrical Maintenance.
An employee can withdraw consent at any time by replying STOP to any text message, which immediately removes them from future messaging, or by telling their supervisor directly, who will remove them from the system. Replying HELP to any message returns support contact information.
